Armenian authorities amend procedures for providing vacations and  housing to military personnel

ArmInfo.  The Armenian Ministry of Defense proposes to extend the main vacations for privates and junior sergeants serving in the military. On May 29, the RA Government approved amendments and additions to the Law <On Military Service and the Status of Servicemen,> considering the initiative  urgent.

The draft law was presented by Deputy Defense Minister Hrachya  Sargsyan, noting that the document proposes several sectoral changes  aimed at increasing the attractiveness of military service and  creating more favorable conditions during service. According to him,  the bill proposes to increase the duration of the main vacation for  privates and junior sergeants serving in the military and introduce  additional vacation for them for taking the military oath.

It is also planned to replace the current system for providing  service housing to officers who graduated from military educational  institutions and were appointed to officer positions within the RA  Ministry of Defense or the border troops of the National Security  Service with the right to acquire residential real estate with the  right of ownership through mortgage lending funded by the state  budget, based on their needs. The conditions for this process are  also outlined in the draft law.
