French FM: We call on Azerbaijan to sign peace treaty with Armenia

ArmInfo. Paris supported the efforts of the Armenian authorities to reach a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot made this statement during a joint press conference with his Armenian  counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan, answering the question of  what steps France is taking to prevent escalation and possible  aggression by Azerbaijan.

"We welcomed the agreement on the text of the document and called on  Azerbaijan to sign it. Signing of this document is very important, as  this region is an important communication hub for Europe," Barrot  said.  Noting that cases of escalation were recorded again several  weeks ago, the minister pointed out that France has called on the  parties to exercise restraint. "It would be tragic to lose this  opportunity so close to achieving peace," the French diplomat said.
