ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan reiterated Yerevan's readiness to hold a meeting with the Azerbaijani side to conclude a peace treaty. The Armenian minister expressed his stance at a joint press conference with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot.
In response to the question of what the Yerevan-Baku negotiations entail, especially in light of new conditions being proposed by the Azerbaijani side, and whether a new meeting is possible, the minister emphasized that he had previously addressed the issue. According to him, the Azerbaijani side is putting forward several conditions, some of which are currently under discussion. He specifically highlighted the Azerbaijani's side's proposal to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group, and to make amendments to the Constitution of Armenia as unacceptable. Mirzoyan reiterated the previously voiced arguments regarding Baku's demands, and stated the significance of holding meetings to address the disagreements between the parties.
"If Azerbaijan's concerns regarding the RA Constitution are sincere, the most direct way to dispel them is to conclude a peace treaty. After signing it, the ratification process and consideration in the Constitutional Court are necessary. Only the Constitutional Court can interpret the Constitution. If it confirms the document's compliance with the Constitution, it means that the issue is closed. I can provide other arguments, but time is limited. If they are insincere, then: In any case, discussions are necessary, we must present our arguments and listen to others', look for a solution," the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted. He stated Yerevan's readiness to hold a meeting with Baku at the level of the heads of the Foreign Ministries or the leaders of the two countries to discuss the venue and time of signing the peace treaty.
