ArmInfo. The Union of Journalists of Armenia establishes Armen Doulyan award to encourage highly professional journalism.
As noted in the message of the JUA, the award, a certificate, statuette and a cash prize of at least 500,000 drams, raised through public fundraising, will be awarded to the journalist whose publicist work (textual or audio or audiovisual) submitted to the competition is deemed the best by the competition committee. A candidate for the Armen Doulyan award can be a publicist-journalist of any age with at least ten years of professional experience.
Starting in 2026, the award ceremony will be held every year on May 26, the birthday of the journalist. The Union of Journalists of Armenia will announce the procedure for holding the competition, other conditions, including the deadlines for submitting applications, in the coming months.
Armen Doulyan worked for more than four decades in Armenian and foreign media: Sputnik Armenia, Liberty, Public Radio of Armenia, Radio Russia, Shant and Kentron TV stations, Armenpress and SNARK news agencies, and has published articles in numerous Armenian print and online media. In 1992-1993, he was the press secretary of the Minister of Defense of Armenia. He died in January 2025 at the age of 71. Note that Armen Doulyan was one of the founders of the SNARK news agency, which is now legally succeeded by the ArmInfo news agency.
