ArmInfo. The "Crossroads of Peace" proposed by the Armenian government is a very important condition for peace and prosperity in the region. This project is also important in terms of overcoming global supply chain crises. This was stated by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on May 26 at the opening of the "Yerevan Dialogue 2025" international forum, presenting the obstacles to achieving peace between Yerevan and Baku and ways to resolve them.
Pashinyan stressed that the initiative is based on the important principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction and reciprocity. This is an important project to connect the North and South, West and East. Unfortunately, Baku has certain concerns, he added.
According to him, Yerevan proposed specific ways to address Baku's concerns, in particular, organizing transportation from the western regions of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan. Touching upon Baku's narrative about the so-called western Azerbaijan, the prime minister noted that there is no and cannot be a "western Azerbaijan" on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia - western Azerbaijan is the western regions of Azerbaijan. There cannot be a western Azerbaijan outside its territory, such discussions are unacceptable for us, Pashinyan emphasized. The proposals of the Armenian side, he explained, concern the use of Armenian locomotives. That is, they can pass the border control of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, crossing the territories of the two countries.
"Some international partners are trying to create the impression that Armenia is not ready to open communications, but it is very important for us to consider this issue in the context of ensuring regional communications on a mutual basis," he noted, adding that Yerevan is ready to proceed with the implementation of the project as soon as it receives Baku's consent. Pashinyan is convinced that a long- term stable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not only possible, but also achievable. "We are committed to the peace agenda and are ready to continue consultations with Azerbaijan on how to achieve the signing of an agreement and other documents that will radically change the situation and the fate of the peoples of the region. We will do everything in our power, of course, respecting the above-mentioned principles," Pashinyan said, expressing confidence that despite all the provocations and arguments, there will be no war, there will be peace.
