ArmInfo. On May 23, RA National Assembly Vice Speaker Hakob Arshakyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Armenia Nilakshi Saha Sinha.
As reported by the NA press service, the Vice Speaker highlighted the significance of high-level bilateral visits, active parliamentary cooperation and dialogues between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense. In this context, Hakob Arshakyan emphasized the appointment of the Indian military attache to Armenia as an important step.
The Vice Speaker also mentioned that Yerevan attaches particular importance to Armenia's membership in the "International Solar Alliance", a joint initiative of India and France. According to Hakob Arshakyan, this opens up new opportunities for cooperation in this area.
The Deputy Speaker stressed that Yerevan values New Delhi's support for Armenia's bid to host the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-17) in 2026.
It was noted that Armenia emphasizes the importance of obtaining observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for international cooperation Additionally, Armenia is interested in joint programs within thee North-South International Transport Corridor and the Chabahar Port project.
Hakob Arshakyan presented regional developments, confirming that Armenia consistently advocates for peace in the South Caucasus and beyond. He mentioned the ongoing negotiations on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Special attention was given to the unresolved humanitarian issues, particularly the release of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees held in Baku. The Crossroads of Peace project, aimed at unblocking regional infrastructure, was presented.
The Ambassador, emphasized the need for further development of bilateral relations and expressed support for Armenia's efforts to achieve regional peace. Nilakshi Saha Sinha spoke about the tension on the border between India and Pakistan.
NA Vice Speaker Hakob Arshakyan stressed that Armenia reaffirms its support for India on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. He is convinced that there is no alternative to peace, and only agreements reached through dialogue can lead to lasting stability and regional development.
