ArmInfo. On May 22, the Government of Armenia approved the Comprehensive Program of Measures in the Field of Atmospheric Air Protection for 2025-2030.
As stated in the explanatory note to the document, air pollution monitoring is currently carried out through a hybrid monitoring network. It includes 16 active and automatic main stationary and 229 mobile (passive) sampling observation points. In 2006-2007, the observation points were re-equipped with automatic equipment. However, the existing number of air monitoring points and the types of pollutants constantly determined at the observation points do not meet the regulatory requirements of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the RA Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan, in 2024, Armenia acquired two observation stations through budget financing. They are currently being installed in Yerevan.
It is planned to purchase 14 more stationary air pollution monitoring stations in Armenia over the next 5 years. , the minister said.
The state will also re-equip a chemical laboratory that will provide more accurate data on the presence of organic pollutants or heavy metals in dust. The next step of the project will be the creation of a reference laboratory that will assess the accuracy of the monitoring system devices.
, - Simidyan said.
The presented program of activities also provides for an increase in the area of green spaces in Yerevan. According to the minister, there is currently a need to create about 41 hectares of new green areas in Yerevan.
