Serzh Sargsyan: It is better to pursue impeachment now rather than  let the current administration continue governing for another year

ArmInfo.When conducting the impeachment process of the Prime Minister, it is necessary to consider the situation. The third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan told journalists, speaking about the goals and objectives of the initiated impeachment process of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. 

According to Sargsyan, if this process is successful, the Republican  Party would  not oppose the candidacy of  second President of the  Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan for the post of Prime Minister.  The ex- president noted that his political party, the RPA, would not  object if someone from Robert Kocharyan's team becomes a candidate.  "Do you really think that the second president will be a worse leader  than the current leader of Armenia?" Serzh Sargsyan said. He  added  that it is better to pursue impeachment now rather than allow the  current authorities to continue governing for another year,  potentially making new steps that are dangerous for the country, for  example, new territorial concessions to Azerbaijan. 

When asked why the Armenian authorities are staying silent on the new  statements  from Baku regarding "Eastern Azerbaijan" and the return  of 300 thousand Azerbaijanis to Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan suggested  that the RA authorities are refraining from reacting in to soften the  anger of the president of the neighboring country or to please the  latter so that he does something good for them.
