ArmInfo. The construction of Armenias first-ever state-run Center of Independent Living for people with disabilities has started in the Metsamor community of the Armavir region in Armenia. The construction site was visited by Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan, Chairman of the Urban Development Committee Yeghiazar Vardanyan, Governor of Armavir Argishti Mekhakyan, Chairman of the NA Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Heriknaz Tigranyan, UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili, UNICEF Deputy Representative Silvia Mestroni and other officials.
As reported by the press service of the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, officials were briefed on the center's master plan and discussed ways to ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities. The Independent Living Center in Armavir is being constructed with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and UNICEF. The construction is being carried out in coordination with the Urban Development Committee and by order of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
