ArmInfo. The Swiss Parliament has established a platform for peace - a global forum for displaced indigenous Armenians of Artsakh to negotiate with Azerbaijan and other international stakeholders for the safe and collective return of Armenians to their homeland, as reported by the Central Bureau of "Hay Dat" of the ARF "Dashnaktsutyun".
According to the report, on May 26, a cross-party committee of 19 parliamentarians in support of the "Swiss Peace Initiative" will be launched in Bern. Thus, the committee is implementing the decision of the upper house of the Swiss Parliament of March 18 regarding the introduction of necessary international mechanisms for the implementation of the right of Artsakh Armenians to return, which has a legally binding effect on the country's executive power.
It is noted that the initiative is aimed at supporting Switzerland's commitment "to facilitate an open dialogue between Azerbaijan and representatives of the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenian people, conducted under international supervision or in the presence of internationally relevant actors, to negotiate the safe and collective return of the historically resident Armenian population."
The committee, which enjoys broad cross-party support, is chaired by members of the Swiss National Council Erich Vontobel and Stefan Muller-Altermatt. The upcoming event will feature the co-chairs of the committee, as well as former Foreign Minister of Armenia, Chairman of the Committee for the Defense of the Fundamental Rights of the People of Nagorno-Karabakh Vartan Oskanian, Director of the Lady Cox Rehabilitation Center Vardan Tadevosyan, Secretary General of the Switzerland-Armenia Interparliamentary Friendship Group Sargis Shahinyan and Director for Public Advocay of the International Organization of Christian Solidarity Dr. Joel Veldkamp.
