ArmInfo. The City Hall will exempt citizens from paying fines for non-payment of garbage collection, which have accumulated due to the inability to fulfill their payment obligations through any system. The corresponding bill was adopted on May 20 during a meeting of the Council of Elders of the Yerevan City Hall.
In particular, as noted by the acting head of the City Hall's Department for Accounting and Revenue Collection David Hakobyan, we are talking about fines accumulated during the period from January to May of this year. If any of the citizens has paid the fine, these funds will be transferred to their account for payment of garbage collection services.
Hakobyan reported that in order to fulfill their payment obligations, citizens can already use various platforms, including the relevant section of Yerevan.am, pay.e-community.am, Easy Pay, the Armeconombank mobile application, at any HayPost branch, in their district administration. It was also noted that TelCell and a number of other commercial banks of Armenia will soon join the system.
During the vote, 42 members of the Council of Elders supported the project, 2 were against and 16 abstained.
At the end of December last year, the city authorities announced that from now on, the calculation of the fee for garbage removal will be based not on the number of residents, as was previously the case, but on the area of the residential property occupied.
According to the current procedure, in Yerevan, per capita, each resident pays 200 drams per month for garbage removal. With the innovations, as the acting head of the Yerevan Municipality Department for Accounting and Revenue Collection David Hakobyan assured back then, on average, garbage removal will become more expensive for apartment residents by 80 drams, and for private houses - by 180 drams.
