ArmInfo. Armenia and Turkey will present their first joint film. The corresponding agreement was signed by producers Ani Galstyan (Armenia) and Ela Alyamac (Turkey) during the film market of the Cannes Film Festival in the pavilion of the Pan-Armenian Federation of Film Producers (PFFP).
As reported by the American publication Variety, the directors and screenwriters of the film "Hello" (Ela Alyamac and Aren Perdeci), called it a bold and unprecedented act of cultural cooperation and new mutual understanding. It was noted that the film is an autobiography of the world-famous Turkish photographer of Armenian descent Ara Guler, who passed away in 2018. The directors, who are also of Armenian descent, according to the publication, developed a close relationship with Guler a year before his death, which helped them turn his life story into a script for a film with the working title "Hello." While the film will focus on various aspects of his career and exotic travels, it is essentially a three-day trip of the photographer with his father to the Armenian village where he was born. In an earlier interview with the publication, the directors, ref erring to a conversation with Guler, said that it was his father's return home that was the greatest journey of his life. The film will be produced by the Turkish film company Kara Kedi Film and the Armenian Enso Films.
