ArmInfo. The second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan called the current Prime Minister of Armenia, who has made fighting against corruption one of his political priorities, the "Einstein of corruption".
"Pashinyan has taken corruption to a new level. This is phenomenal. I consider Nikol Pashinyan the Einstein of corruption. Just the ANIF case is worth something. To create a fund, funnel $65 million of taxpayers into it. Then create an office, hire relatives, friends, family members, and so on. This money disappeared within two months. This man is simply David Copperfield (American illusionist - ed.) - this is a new word in the matter of corruption. These are geniuses of corruption and they have turned the country into a paradise for corruption," Kocharyan said in an interview with several Armenian media outlets.
According to him, this is just one example of corruption. He also recalled the disappearance of $100 million from the All-Armenian Fund during the 44-day war of 2020, and many other cases. Additionally, he expressed his conviction that the revelations related to corruption schemes in the construction of schools and kindergartens are just "tips for corruption". "The state debt of Armenia has increased by $7 billion, but what did they do for the country with this money?" the politician asked, adding that at least $2 billion of these $7 billion has simply evaporated.
"I have reasonable suspicions that Nikol Pashinyan is the wealthiest man in Armenia. I am significantly less wealthy than him, about 10-15 times less. As they say, it's even offensive," Kocharyan joked, adding that in a couple of years the truth will come out, and people can enjoy the show with on popcorn.
Kocharyan added that it is raining in the city and Yerevan is starting to resemble Venice. "If people are ok, it is good. The man who performed a miracle with ANIF is now doing the same with Yerevan. You saw how much a construction permit costs," the politician said, once again emphasizing that corruption in the country is widespread.
