ArmInfo. As part of the events to hold the "Biodiversity Week in Armenia", an official presentation of the COP17 forest planting initiative was held on the territory of the Aragatsotn forest branch of the ArmForest SNCO of the Ministry of Environment.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Environment, the goal of this initiative is to send an important message to the world emphasizing Armenia's commitment to preserving nature and restoring biodiversity. The forest will be planted as a symbol of the COP17 conference of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be held in Armenia in 2026.
With this initiative, the Republic of Armenia demonstrates with practical steps that it consistently implements on the ground the commitments it has made on international environmental platforms.
"Each tree planted in this forest symbolizes our collective responsibility and goal: to promote the restoration of biodiversity, combat climate change and create a greener and more sustainable future," the statement says.
It also notes that the Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan, deputy ministers, ministry employees, as well as heads of subordinate SNCOs took part in the tree planting. The COP17 forest will not only be a symbolic space, but also a real green legacy that will remain for future generations.
