ArmInfo. The damage in the amount of $140,000 caused to the state and the community as a result of illegal mining in the Ararat region has been compensated, the Prosecutor General's Office reports.
It is noted that, within the framework of the criminal proceedings considered by the Investigative Committee, on May 16, 2025, the prosecutor initiated public criminal cases against three persons, R.B., A.A. and A.Ch., who held the positions of directors of two companies engaged in illegal mining in different settlements of the Masis community, for violating the requirements of the legislation on the protection and use of mineral resources, as a result of which the state suffered damage in the amount of 208 million 342 thousand drams, which is equivalent to about 538 thousand US dollars.
On May 16, 2025, one of the companies compensated the state and society for damages in the amount of 54 million 288 thousand drams, which is equivalent to 140 thousand US dollars.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues.
