During a meeting with the Ambassador of India to Armenia, Nilakshi Saha Sinhu, the Minister of Justice of Armenia Srbuhi Galyan discussed the priorities of the department she heads, which include implementing strategic reforms in the judicial, penitentiary, and probation spheres, combating corruption, and safeguarding human rights.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, Galyan said that the Ministry of Justice is focused on reducing the workload of the courts, enhancing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, improving the conditions for detainees, and promoting integrity among employees in penitentiary institutions. The Minister also touched upon the work being carried out to develop a new Constitution.
In turn, the Ambassador presented India's successful implementation of digital tools in the justice sector, including artificial intelligence. In this context, the parties discussed the potential for Armenian-Indian cooperation in this direction. Additionally, they touched upon issues related to convicts in penitentiary institutions of Armenia. Both sides agreed to enhance the current cooperation between the two countries in areas under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice.
