ArmInfo. Today, it is impossible to predict the possibility of signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by the secretary of the ruling Civil Contract faction in the country, Artur Hovhannisyan, at a briefing in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on May 16.
In particular, he pointed to the interview of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to the Public Television of Azerbaijan, which said what official Yerevan has repeatedly said. In particular, speaking about Azerbaijan's concerns about the Constitution of Armenia, the MP noted that the Armenian side also has questions for Baku regarding the Basic Law of the neighboring state and Azerbaijan's territorial claims against Armenia. "We have made specific proposals so that all the concerns of the parties are dispelled and presented in the peace treaty, especially since international documents prevail over national legislation. Yerevan proposed that Baku sign the treaty at a pre-agreed place and time, which will also allow the OSCE Minsk Group problem to be resolved," said Artur Hovhannisyan.
In an interview with OTA Azerbaijan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that, according to the decision of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia, the current Constitution of Armenia does not contain any territorial claims against our neighbors. The Prime Minister emphasized that this is already a legally confirmed fact. As for the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, as the head of the Armenian government noted, Yerevan wants to make sure that Baku does not want to transfer the conflict to the territory of Armenia. "The solution we propose is the following: to simultaneously sign a peace agreement and an appeal to the OSCE with a request to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group. In other words, in the same place and at the same time, which is very important. And this would be a very important mutual gesture for trust and stability in our region," Nikol Pashinyan emphasized.
