ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities are tightening the liability for reservists or individuals liable for military service who avoid attending training camps. The initiative of the Ministry of Defense to define forms of evasion of citizens from training camps, clarify the qualification of the act and tighten the liability for the committed act in conjunction with a number of circumstances, as well as clarify the responsibilities and authority of the military police was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on May 15 at a regular meeting.
As stated in the draft resolution, evasion of participation in military training by a citizen, who is summoned to announced training is considered a violation. This includes not showing up at the military commissariat at the place of registration for participation in the training, skipping a medical examination and examination established by law, refusing to participate in the training, or other form of evasion without valid legal reasons. The punishment is a fine ranging from fifteen to thirty times the standard amount, or a maximum of two months of arrest, or imprisonment for one to three years. This act, committed by causing oneself bodily harm or simulating illness, or by forging a document or other deception, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to five years. A person who has committed a crime is released from criminal liability if they voluntarily appear and take part in military training.
