ArmInfo. Armenian students won silver medals at the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from May 5 to 13. A total of 190 students from 40 countries took part in the Olympiad, which was held in three stages (two theoretical and one practical).
The Armenian team was represented by Arman Kharatyan, a 12th-grader from Vanadzor Specialized School with Advanced Education of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and Sevada Harutyunyan, a 12th- grader from Gyumri College <Photon> The team leader was Andranik Davinyan, an employee of the Scientific and Technological Center for Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and Chairman of the Republican Commission for the Chemistry Olympiad.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, during the previous 58th Mendeleev Olympiad in China, the Armenian team won one silver and two bronze medals. Armenia's teams have taken home a total of 45 medals (1 gold, 9 silver and 35 bronze), from the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad.
