ArmInfo. Even the enemies of the USSR had more dignity and a higher class in 1942 than those who three days earlier disgraced the Armenians before the whole world, speaking about Stalingrad. This was written by Stanford University professor, political scientist Artur Khachikyan.
In support of his words, the political scientist cited the statements of King George VI of England regarding the war: "Today I and my people join the peoples of the Soviet Union in paying sincere tribute to the heroic qualities and magnificent leadership by which the Red Army, with its glorious victories in the fight against our common enemies, wrote new pages in history. And our people, the stubborn resistance of Stalingrad turned the tide of events and served as a prelude to the crushing blows that sowed confusion among the enemies of civilization and freedom. In order to mark the deep admiration felt by me and the peoples of the British Empire, I have given orders for the manufacture of an honorary sword, which I will have the pleasure of presenting to the city of Stalingrad. I hope that in the happy days to come this gift will remind us of the unbending courage in which the warrior city was tempered in the fight against the strong and persistent attacks of its enemies, and that it will be a symbol of admiration not only of the peoples of the British Empire, but of the whole civilized world."
Khachikyan added that on November 29, 1943, the opening ceremony of the Tehran Allied Conference was held at the Soviet Embassy in Iran. "And it was there that British Prime Minister Churchill handed the unique sword to Stalin. Taking the sword with both hands, Stalin kissed it and showed it to Roosevelt, who was sitting in the chair. Examining the sword taken out of its sheath, Roosevelt read the inscription on the blade and said: ," Khachikyan added.
According to the political scientist, Armenian political life has invented a new concept: "Hitler's Armenia." "Wilson's Armenia was not enough, now we have Hitler's Armenia. Let me clarify that this is not our enemy saying this, but our first channel of the Public Television of Armenia," the expert concluded.
Former press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry, head of the Marshal Baghramyan Command and Staff Institute of the RA Defense Ministry Military Academy Artsrun Hovhannisyan, speaking on May 9 on the Public Television of Armenia, stated that "Germany's victory in the Great Patriotic War would have been beneficial to Armenia."
According to him, the Battle of Stalingrad prevented Germany from capturing Turkey and creating a united Armenia. "One of the most difficult myths for us is that the Battle of Stalingrad allegedly saved Armenia from the Turkish invasion," Artsrun Hovhannisyan said. In this regard, the opposition MP called on the RA Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan to conduct an investigation into these statements, especially in the context of the fight against crimes against humanity committed by Nazi Germany.
