Cultural Heritage Ombudsman: Azerbaijanis destroyed Mayraberd  memorial complex in occupied Artsakh

ArmInfo.  The Mayraberd memorial complex in  occupied Askeran, along with the tank monument commemorating the Artsakh Liberation War, located on the left side of the road leading from Mayraberd to Tigranakert and Akne, have become another target of Azerbaijani policy to erase the Armenian trace. The  Ombudsman of Culture of the Armenian Highlands shared this  information on his Facebook page.

According to him, this is evidenced by satellite images from March  12, 2025. "These two cases of vandalism were committed using heavy  construction equipment," the cultural ombudsman's statement explains.  In this regard, the ombudsman pointed out that  on the territory of  the memorial complex in Mayraberd there were monuments honoring the  Great Patriotic War (WWII), the Artsakh Liberation War, and a  khachkar commemorating the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire  and the victims of the Armenian massacre in Sumgait.
