ArmInfo. The music for the opening ceremony of the 60th European Karate Championship among adults, which will be held in Yerevan, was written by composer and music producer Andranik Berberyan.
The official European Karate Championship among adults is being held for the first time in Yerevan at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex from May 7 to May 11. About 1,000 athletes from 54 countries are taking part in the event. In addition, the President of the World and European Karate Federation (WKF) Antonio Espinos, as well as a number of high-ranking officials from various countries, will arrive in Yerevan.
As Berberyan emphasized, the European Karate Championship is a significant event in terms of its scale. "It was important for me that the music reflected the psychological tension and solemnity of this sport. This project allows us to create a unique musical approach that will reflect the essence of the event and will have a direct connection with all the elements of the production," the composer noted, as quoted by the press service of the European Championship organizers.
As the press service recalled, this is not the first time Andranik Berberyan has worked on large-scale projects. In 2021, he wrote a song for an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Armenia's independence, and in 2022, he created music for a visualized material about Armenia's participation in an exhibition in Dubai. In 2023, he also wrote music for the opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championships. In addition, Berberyan is the author of music for the gala concert of the 33rd annual meeting and business forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the composer was previously awarded the Composer of the Year award at the Khazer Armenian Music Awards, for which he also created the musical design.
