ArmInfo. The opening of Wizz Air's base in Armenia was the result of the RA government's painstaking work. This was stated by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the RA government hour on May 7, in response to a question from Anna Grigoryan, a member of the NA from the opposition faction "Armenia".
The deputy, in particular, reminded the termination of the activities of the Fly Arna airline in the country, for the creation of which 4.5 billion drams were allocated. Moreover, the airline filed a lawsuit in the arbitration court against the Republic of Armenia, insisting on the failure of the Armenian side to fulfill its obligations. Grigoryan noted that 4.5 billion drams were wasted and no one was held accountable for it. The MP, referring to media reports, recalled who was one of the initiators and leaders of the created airline, referring the current mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan. She pointed out that this money could have been used to increase pensions and benefits.
In response, the RA Prime Minister noted that Wizz Air's statement speaks of the justification of multi- billion dollar investments in this area, since it will create opportunities to attract a large number of tourists, not to mention services to Armenian citizens. Pashinyan emphasized that as a result of Wizz Air's activities, state budget revenues will increase significantly, which will also lead to solving the issue related to pensions and benefits. "The relocation of this airline to Armenia will be a signal to the international community that the country is a very good place for investment," the Prime Minister said. In turn, Grigoryan noted that when it comes to the need to hold people from the ruling party accountable, there are always thousands of excuses. Meanwhile, over the past 7 years, the national debt has increased by $7 billion and where this money went remains unclear. The same road cannot be repaired five times a year.
This statement angered Pashinyan, who, in his usual manner, began to accuse the opposition of all mortal sins. "I would like to remind you that justice in the country is carried out in the courts, and not through the media. If we follow the media publications, then all of you are spies, and you should have been expelled from the country or sent to the basements of the National Security Service a long time ago," the Prime Minister began to shout. In response, the National Assembly deputy from the opposition faction "Armenia" Kristine Vardanyan shouted something at Pashinyan, addressing him informally. This did not please the speaker of parliament, Alen Simonyan. "You can address your boss as "you", not the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia," the speaker said, yelling over everyone. After this, the situation in parliament escalated sharply, and Simonyan announced a break.
