ArmInfo. Employees of the Environmental Patrol Service of Armenia will receive state social guarantees at the legislative level. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is discussing the amendments to the "On Environmental Patrol Service" in the second and final reading at the plenary session on May 7.
Introducing the amendments, Deputy Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia Ara Mkrtchyan noted that the government proposes to review the provisions regarding financial assistance provided in the event of death or disability of an employee of the Environmental Patrol Service. According to the speaker, the amendment proposes to legislatively enshrine the social guarantees of the service employee. In particular, it is envisaged to replace social insurance with monetary compensation and provide for the payment of funds in cases of serious harm to health or death of an employee of the service in the performance of his official duties. It is also proposed to grant the government the authority to establish the procedure for paying compensation.
Another change concerns the procedure for appointing employees of the Environmental Patrol Service. In particular, it was established that eco-patrols shall exercise their powers after being appointed to the position based on the results of a competition in the manner prescribed by this law, but not later than January 1, 2027. Earlier, the RA Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan noted that the process of staffing the service is currently underway. He reported that quotas for female representatives have not been established. The service was created recently, and it is possible that representatives of the fair sex will also participate in it.
