ArmInfo. Administrative liability for violation of traffic rules will be tightened in Armenia. On May 7, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is discussing amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses submitted by the Government of the Republic of Armenia in the second and final reading.
Introducing the amendments, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Armen Mkrtchyan noted that the current Code provides for liability for installing non-standard light or sound signaling devices on vehicles, or for using them while driving, but the nature of the liability is practically absent. In particular, administrative liability will be applied not only for the illegal installation of red or blue beacons or special sound signaling devices on vehicles without the appropriate permission, but also for driving with their use.
Another change, according to Mkrtchyan, concerns liability for driving without a registration number, a fake number, and for driving vehicles with replaced license plates. This list will now also include liability for driving a car with license plates from another car. Penalties will also be imposed on persons who do not have the right to drive a motor vehicle. Now, if such cases are detected, a fine of 200 thousand drams will be applied.
In addition to criminal liability, administrative penalties will also be applied to persons who have been deprived of the right to drive a car but are found driving.
The provision on the immediate entry into force of a protocol against a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated is removed from the document. This is due to the need to conduct an appropriate examination.
