ArmInfo. Shirak Region Governor David Arushanyan took part in the launch of festive events in Gyumri as part of the Europe Days in Armenia.
As reported by the press service of the regional administration, welcoming the participants of the event symbolizing peace and unity, the Shirak Governor pointed out the importance of holding such events and noted the value of the work that people do in the diplomatic field. He also called the humanitarian agenda present in the events as part of the Europe Days positive.
"The name "EU-Armenia Cultural Bridge" already speaks of something important: thanks to culture and universal values, it is possible to create a unique bridge that will strengthen friendship and partnership between our peoples. Culture is the basis of peaceful coexistence. It teaches mutual understanding and tolerance. Without culture, there would be no humanity, and people would not become closer and more friendly. Thanks to the presentation of the play "This is Europe", I believe that we will have the opportunity to travel around Europe and see European values firsthand," Arushanyan noted.
The Armenian official also thanked the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Vasilis Maragos for cooperation and drew attention to the close cooperation that has developed between the European Union and Armenia, including with the Shirak region.
He noted that within the framework of this cooperation, various programs are being implemented aimed at developing the region in the fields of economy, agriculture, infrastructure, education, culture, healthcare, tourism development, civil society, youth empowerment and other areas.
"The Republic of Armenia is confidently moving towards democracy, and on this path we highly appreciate those who support us and our friends," Arushanyan concluded.
In turn, Maragos also welcomed those present, congratulating them on Europe Day. "We continue to fight for our values, prosperity, freedom and cooperation. The EU is committed to peace, partnership and cooperation in Europe and beyond. In Armenia, we also celebrate Europe Day, we celebrate our commitment to peace, democracy and partnership. Today in Gyumri, which has its own uniqueness, origins and traditions, we not only celebrate Europe Day, but also value the living cultural heritage that unites people," he concluded.
