ArmInfo. Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the Council for National Minorities Arayik Harutyunyan visited communities inhabited by national minorities in the Aragatsotn region of the republic, where he got acquainted with the implemented and ongoing programs.
The governor of the region Sergey Movsisyan presented the implemented programs for 2018-2024. He said, in particular, that during the specified period, subsidy programs were implemented, within the framework of which local communities invested 1.330 billion drams, and the state's participation in these projects amounted to 8.6 billion drams. The funds were mainly directed to road repairs, gasification, water supply, and the construction of cultural and educational institutions.
Arayik Harutyunyan visited a modular kindergarten for 144 children under construction in Alagyaz and got acquainted with the progress of construction work. The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister was also presented with the works on the construction of an educational complex for 144 students in the village of Charkhagis. During the visit, Arayik Harutyunyan also met with residents of the settlements of Alagyaz, Charkhagis and Shamiram. He noted that quite serious work is being done to solve the problems of national minorities, noting that the government attaches great importance to the proportional development of communities.
"The investments made from the state budget are also intended for this purpose, we cannot have a strong state by developing only the capital or several cities. And communities with national minorities give additional strength to our state. We are proud of this, demonstrating the multicultural society that we have in the republic, and in order to work in this direction, we will also try to find new tools so that national minorities can realize their religious, cultural, educational rights and needs," said the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister.
