ArmInfo. Armenia ranks very high in the World Press Freedom Index. Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of the RA Prime Minister's Staff, posted this on his Facebook page noting that the republic has ranked 34th in the index compiled by Reporters Without Borders.
Arayik Harutyunyan wrote: "Of course, after the publication of this news, the media headlines will once again be manipulative. But no matter what anyone writes, we are well on our way, and I congratulate all of us on this event. This is an indicator that we could only dream of for 20 years," the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister noted.
It should be noted that Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has published the World Press Freedom Index for 2025. Armenia has improved its score by 9 positions compared to the previous year. Armenia ranked 34th place out of 180 countries,. In 2024, Armenia was ranked 43rd with a score of 71.6, and in 2023 it was 49th with a score of 70.61. Armenia leads in the region in terms of press freedom. Georgia dropped 11 positions compared to last year, now ranking 114th. Azerbaijan is at 167th place, Turkey at 159th, Iran at 176th, and Russia fell 9 positions to 171st place.
