ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received, at the Government House, a delegation led by Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, who is on an official visit to Armenia.
As reported by the press service of the Prime Minister, Pashinyan welcomed the official visit of the delegation led by the President of Georgia to Armenia and once again congratulated Mikheil Kavelashvili on his election as President of Georgia. "You know how much we value our bilateral relations with Georgia and have already elevated our relations to the level of strategic partnership. I believe that this is a step that expresses our long-term intentions. I have always said and continue to believe that Georgia and Armenia have common interests, and we should build our relations on these interests," Nikol Pashinyan said, adding that these interests align with the long-term development interests of the South Caucasus region.
In response, Mikheil Kavelashvili noted that it was a great honor for him to be in the neighboring country for the first time as the President of Georgia. "Our relations should deepen and develop, a strategic agreement was signed last year," the President of Georgia said, adding that everything must be done to make the South Caucasus a powerful region. Kavelashvili welcomed the fact that the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan was agreed upon and expressed hope that it would be signed in the near future and that there would be lasting peace and stability in the region.
The interlocutors discussed various topics on the agenda of Armenian-Georgian cooperation, including joint programs in the economy, tourism, infrastructure, education and other areas. The parties emphasized the intensive nature of mutual visits at the highest level, expressing confidence that active dialogue will enhance cooperation in all areas. They also discussed regional developments and emphasized the importance of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan to secure lasting peace in the region.
