ArmInfo. Armenia has no intention to aggravate or break relations with Russia, as stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart Kristen Michal, following their talks in the Estonian capital.
When asked by an Estonian journalist whether Armenia is ready to sever relations with Moscow and how it sees future relations with the Russian Federation, Pashinyan pointed out the importance of using the right words in international relations, in any relations and in diplomacy, to avoid causing harm. Speaking about relations with Russia, the Armenian Prime Minister noted that they are and should be grounded in common interests. He recalled that Armenian authorities follow a balanced foreign policy in international relations. "This means that we do focus solely on one direction in our relationships. We are trying to find and maintain the right balance in our foreign policy relations. This is also evident in the recent passing of a law in the country on the launch of the EU membership process. But I would like to be very clear, often in Armenia there are comments that misinterpret the reality in my opinion. We have no intention of aggravating, breaking or spoiling relations with Russia. We want to have good relations with all international partners," Pashinyan said, adding that Armenia wants to regulate relations with regional neighbors - Azerbaijan and Turkey, advance cooperation with Georgia and Iran to a new level and enhance relations with the EU. He also spoke about the achievements in relations between Armenia and the EU, which seemed unrealistic just a couple of years ago - from the deployment of European observers on the territory of the Republic of Armenia to the beginning of a dialogue on visa liberalization and receiving assistance through the European Peace Facility. In conclusion, Pashinyan expressed hope that, alongside the progress of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation with the EU will strengthen.
