ArmInfo. The time has come to remove Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from power: this year should be the last for his government, as there is no more room for new concessions or challenges. Non-partisan MP Taguhi Tovmasyan stated this in a conversation with journalists in the Armenian parliament on April 25.
The MP noted that one should not wait for the 2026 elections to implement this step, noting that she considers the "I Have Honor" faction's impeachment initiative to be one of the legal ways to remove the current prime minister. However, Tovmasyan added that there is currently no single candidate for the post of prime minister, which complicates the implementation of this initiative. "We can start the impeachment process right now, but we need votes to complete this process, in addition to this, at the moment the "I Have Honor" faction does not have candidates," Tovmasyan said.
Speaking about the likelihood of Armenian society supporting this initiative, the MP assured that there are practically no political forces in the country that enjoy the people's trust. According to her, polls show that 70% of Armenians are indifferent to the political processes in the country. Touching upon the "velvet revolution" of 2018, Tovmasyan noted that many of those who then advocated for change now realize the destructiveness of the actions of the current prime minister and the mistake of this revolution. She admitted that she herself was among those who wanted the removal of then Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan. Tovmasyan expressed her conviction that the current prime minister has long been coordinating his actions with the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem.
