ArmInfo. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Armenia, Alexander Konyuk, has been recalled from Yerevan at the request of Armenian authorities, ArmInfo was informed of it from diplomatic sources.
The former Prosecutor General of Belarus was appointed Ambassador to Armenia on November 19, 2020. On April 17, it became known that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko dismissed Alexander Konyuk from his post. This event took place quite unnoticed, without any noise in the Armenian press.
However, as ArmInfo learned, Belarus will not be assigning a new ambassador to Armenia, this is the demand of the "velvet authorities". "Lukashenko recalled Ambassador Konyuk at the request of the Armenian authorities. As it is known, Armenia recalled its ambassador Razmik Khumaryan for consultations in Yerevan last year amidst tensions in bilateral relations, and he never returned to Minsk.
Taking into account the above, the Armenian side has requested the recall of the Belarusian diplomat. A new ambassador will not be appointed here," the source said.
