Greek MP: Common martyrdom of Armenians and Greeks calls for   collective demand for Justice

ArmInfo.  The genocide of 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Turkey was the first genocide of the 20th century and one of the darkest pages in the history of humanity.  Greek MP and leader of the SYRIZA party Socratis Famellos wrote about this in his microblog on X. "110 years later, the preservation of  historical memory and the demand for international recognition of the  genocide are an integral part of the struggle for justice and peace.

And this struggle remains relevant, as the Armenian people recently  experienced a new tragedy in Artsakh, resulting in the displacement  of thousands of Armenians from their ancestral homes. The past has  shown us that revisionism and impunity only lead to new injustice and  new suffering.  The common martyrdom of Armenians and Greeks calls  for a collective demand for Justice.  Greece firmly stands with the  Armenian people, supporting all efforts to restore  historical truth.  We support the struggle of the National Armenian Committee of Greece  and are committed to continuing the common struggle for justice,  peace and respect for the rights of peoples.
