ArmInfo. The opposition faction "Armenia" in the National Assembly of Armenia tried to introduce a bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide. The "Civil Contract" faction strongly opposed this proposal and their members physically attacked opposition MPs in the National Assembly. Ishkhan Saghatelyan, representative of the ARF party and MP from the "Armenia" faction, informed journalists about this on April 22.
Saghatelyan believes that this attitude towards the ARF is quite natural, given the presence of a puppet Turkish government, an anti-national union that has distanced itself from Armenian interests, while the ARF has always stood on the side of the Armenian people. According to the politician, the disagreements with the current government revolve around differing visions for Armenia's future and the protection of the rights of the Armenian people. "Therefore, their attacks on the ARF, national forces and national figures are, in general, expected. If you look at the rhetoric of Azerbaijan, Turkey, as well as that of the Armenian authorities and the majority of the members of the Civil Contract party, they are the same, because the enemies of Armenia also hate national forces. And the ARF today is the largest and pan-Armenian national force," Saghatelyan said.
In response to the remark that in one of the videos filmed during the incident that took place today in the National Assembly, the secretary of the "Civil Contract" faction Artur Hovhannisyan can be heard calling opponents prostitutes, the deputy noted that the representatives of the current government do not have basic masculine qualities. "They instruct the guards: wait behind the door, as soon as we say, you will enter immediately. However, once they lose this state protection, their true identities will be revealed. Aren't you familiar with the biographies of these people, their lives? Pretending to be men behind the backs of people in uniform is wrong," Ishkhan Saghatelyan emphasized.
