ArmInfo. The ruling faction of the Council of Elders from the Civil Contract has refused to participate in the discussion initiated by the opposition regarding canceling the decision to increase public transport fares in Yerevan. According to Manuk Sukiasyan, the head of the "Mother Armenia" faction, the opposition suggests postponing the decision until March 1, 2026, in order to determine the cost of travel on public transport based on data from 2025.
The opposition believes that if the ruling force had nothing to hide, and there were no talks of shadow turnover, then the representatives of the "Civil Contract" would have participated in the project discussion. said Sukiasyan. In turn, Samvel Hakobyan added that the city government is not only ignoring the opposition project, but also disregarding the votes of city residents who signed the project. Additionally, he mentioned that according to the law, in order for the project to be discussed, 17,000 signatures needed to be collected, a number that was exceeded several times.
