ArmInfo. The number of trees planted in Yerevan will reach 25,000by May, up from about 20,000 at the end of 2024. Armen Begoyan, the head of the <Landscaping and Environmental Protection> SNCO made this statement at a meeting of the Yerevan Municipality on April 21.
He said that 1,300 trees and 200 evergreen shrubs were recently planted on a 6-hectare area near the church in the Nor Nork administrative district and David Bek Street. Additional 700 trees will be planted this week as a protective zone for Yerevan on a 4.5-hectare section from the Ashtarak Highway to the entrance to Yerevan. Begoyan also noted that 10,000 shrubs are currently being planted in Yerevan, with plans to plant spruce and pine trees in the fall. The head of the SNCO recalled that the largest urban forest will be built on a 35 hectare area between Lvovyan and Myasnikyan streets. Since last year, demolition work has begun on buildings on sites seized by city residents. This year, sanitary cleaning, installation of an irrigation system, and other necessary steps will follow.
