ArmInfo. In light of alarming geopolitical changes, Armenian national life is facing serious challenges, aggravated by internal disagreements and new crisis situations. This was stated by Supreme Patriarch, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II during the festive liturgy on the occasion of Bright Easter.
The Supreme Patriarch noted with regret that in the context of modern political, economic and military conflicts, the rights of nations and states are often violated, while the values of conscience and morality are left without due attention and the spiritual and cultural heritage of humanity is subject to destruction.
Karekin II expressed concern about the constant unacceptable actions and campaigns directed against the national and Christian identity of the Armenian people. "The Armenian Genocide committed in the early 20th century in the Ottoman Empire remains an open wound in our collective memory. This indelible pain is aggravated by reprehensible attempts to question or deny this terrible crime, as well as by new genocidal actions taking place in the modern world. One of such villainous manifestations was the occupation of Artsakh and the forced expulsion of Artsakh Armenians from their native land," His Holiness noted.
In this vein, the Armenian Patriarch called on the Armenian people to reject the lies that permeate the lives of the Armenian people, as well as to completely abandon the destructive morals and actions that humiliate their past and threaten their future, and to unite around faith, identity, values and common history, turning all of the above into the basis for unity both within Armenia and in the Diaspora.
"With this unwavering faith, we are able to transform our suffering and losses into national revival, remaining faithful to the covenants of the Lord and showing unwavering love and devotion to our people and the Homeland.
My Patriarchal call is to put the interests of the nation above personal and group ambitions. Unity is a solid and reliable foundation for strengthening our nation and restoring a dignified life," added Garegin II.
They once again called on the Armenian people to be united in order to face the trials that have befallen them with one-mindedness and the realization of their full potential.
"Tragedies and difficulties will cease if we live for eternal life, we will be torchbearers of light in the darkness everywhere, following the example of the Savior, we will be fighters against injustice and evil. Let us make the revival of our nation and homeland also a real birth of new children and a worthy education and upbringing of the younger generation, ensuring a solid path for the Armenians to the hopeful horizons of the future. Our people, who have overcome destruction and difficulties, relying on the Savior, cannot give up and surrender to death today, but must be the bearer of hope and the grace of the Resurrection, always proclaiming with an unwavering spirit and unwavering faith: "Christ is risen from the dead," the Supreme Patriarch summarized.
The current authorities, headed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, were not present at the Easter liturgy.
