ArmInfo. A group of Artsakh residents gathered outside the Artsakh representative office in Yerevan, demanding the return of "the funds looted by NKR officials." Specifically, they were calling for the "return of $467 million to citizens, which they claim was appropriated by 48 families in Artsakh."
Initially, the protesters were aggressive, and it escalated to the point where they started to insult journalists who had come to cover the protest action. One of the activists, Artur Osipyan, accused the media of distorting the essence of what was happening, presenting information in a favorable light, in accordance with a "paid order."
After a verbal altercation with journalists, the protesters demanded a meeting with Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan. They began to break down the gates of the representative office, and despite the presence of police forces on the scene, they did not react to the actions of the aggressive demonstrators. In response to the growing tension, Shahramanyan came out to the protesters, reminding the gathered Artsakh residents of his appeal to the prosecutor's office and of his summons for questioning as part of a criminal case. Shahramanyan also noted that other government officials were also questioned during the investigation. "I do not think it is appropriate to resolve this issue through street protests. I am ready to meet with several representatives of the protest action next Monday and, together with them, to appeal to the prosecutor's office on this matter," the NKR President told the protesters. Additionally, Shahramanyan suggested that the protesters form a group for a meeting to discuss their concerns and receive answers to their questions. In conclusion, the President of Artsakh apologized to all participants of the action, including journalists, for the anxiety and tension that arose during the protests. Following the negotiations, 11 participants of the action were invited to the Artsakh representative office.
