ArmInfo. The case of the former mayor of Yerevan, former Minister of Transport of Armenia Gagik Beglaryan, accused of embezzling 27 real estate units worth 2 billion 327 million drams, has been sent to court, the Anti-Corruption Committee reports.
According to the investigation materials, Beglaryan used his official position in 2004-2010, contrary to the interests of the service, in order to transfer 27 real estate properties to persons affiliated with him. Between 2004 and 2017, he legalized this property for a total of 2 billion 327 million drams (more than $5.9 million).
As part of the criminal case, Beglaryan and his deputy have been charged with money laundering, incitement to money laundering, and abuse of office.
It is noted that during the preliminary investigation, G.B. compensated about 210 million drams, and 27 real estate properties were seized. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed. The prosecutor approved the indictment, the case materials have been sent to court.
