ArmInfo. One of the goals of the reforms of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system is the idea that a police officer should become an assistant to the citizen. This was stated on April 16 in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia by the Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan.
According to her, one of the directions of these reforms was the creation of the Patrol Service, which, in addition to its main function, should also provide assistance to citizens. Within the framework of their authority, the employees of the Patrol Service resort to various forms of administrative responsibility. In the presence of facts of soft administration, the police resort to them.
At the same time, as the Minister noted, any minor incident can subsequently lead to a larger one, thereby forming the generation of serious risks related to road safety. Sargsyan emphasized that largely due to the successful work of the patrols, a tendency towards a reduction in the number of road accidents began to be observed based on the results of last year. Patrol Service employees are particularly intensive in monitoring traffic conditions at road intersections and on the busiest streets of Yerevan and other cities in the country. However, as the Minister noted, there is a need to modernize traffic lights and other technical equipment at the same road intersections, which will reduce the number of patrols that can be used in other areas, in particular, to prevent crime.
