ArmInfo. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan proposed that Azerbaijan simultaneously sign both a peace agreement and a statement on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He stated this on April 15 from the rostrum of the parliament.
According to Pashinyan, the only guarantor of peace in strategic terms is the concluded peace agreement. In this regard, he is ready to sign the document on behalf of the Armenian people. He recalled that on March 13, Yerevan and Baku announced that they had completed work on the draft text of the agreement <On the establishment of peace and interstate relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan> and were ready to sign.
At the same time, Baku officially links the signing of the document with the liquidation of the OSCE Minsk Group structures, and this agenda, the Armenian Prime Minister recalled, is acceptable for the Republic of Armenia.
"If we are closing the page on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and we are doing this, then what is the point of maintaining a structure that is engaged in resolving the conflict?" he asked.
At the same time, Pashinyan emphasized that the OSCE Minsk Group, at least de facto, has a broader subtext, and Yerevan wants to be sure that Azerbaijan does not view the dissolution of the OSCE MG as an attempt to "close" the Armenian-Azerbaijani confrontation on the territory of Azerbaijan and as a step to transfer it to the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
"To dispel this concern, we propose that Azerbaijan simultaneously sign both the peace agreement and a statement addressed to the OSCE on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group structures. This is an official proposal," he said.
