ArmInfo. Employees of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) have discovered a large batch of hashish weighing 85 kg, which was delivered to the territory of Armenia from Iran. This was reported by the press service of the State Revenue Committee.
The source notes that this case was registered at the Agarak customs checkpoint on the Armenian-Iranian border, where a customs inspection of a truck with a trailer driven by Iranian citizen V.Kh. was carried out using X-ray equipment. As a result of the inspection, suspicious masses were found in the area of the trailer. This information was transferred to the anti-smuggling department, and the customs inspection of the truck and trailer was continued using special technical means and service dogs. A hiding place was found in the floor of the trailer, which contained 112 packages of hashish weighing more than 85 kg. They were packed in transparent polyethylene film and foil.
Based on direct and reasonable suspicion of drug smuggling, Iranian citizen V.Kh. was detained and taken to the Syunik Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, where he was arrested.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case was transferred to the Main Department for the Investigation of Economic Crimes and Smuggling of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. Currently, the State Revenue Committee, the National Security Service and the Investigative Committee are jointly conducting large-scale investigative and operational-search activities to identify all persons who were supposed to receive narcotic drugs on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and organize their further sale.
