Armenian Ombudsman calls for mechanisms to identify and prevent violence in schools

ArmInfo. Armenian Ombudsman Anahit Manasyan urges the competent authorities to enhance mechanisms for detecting and preventing cases of physical and psychological violence against children in general education institutions.

As noted by the press service of the Armenian Ombudsman's office, this call comes after receiving information about cases of violence and monitoring institutions responsible for the protection and care of children. The department emphasized that cases of violence may occur due to teachers' lack of professionalism and skills when working with children.  It is noted that, unfortunately, the country lacks mechanisms for identifying, preventing and addressing cases of violence in educational institutions, according to international organizations' evaluations.
