ArmInfo. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin responded to the anti-Armenian event organized by Azerbaijan at the Pontifical Gregorian University of the Holy See in Rome.
The statement of the Department of Interchurch Relations of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin notes that on April 10 of this year, at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, on the initiative of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the Holy See and several Azerbaijani organizations, with the participation of representatives from different countries, a conference "Christianity in Azerbaijan: History and Modernity" was held.
"During the event, the Azerbaijani propaganda machine once again attempted to deny the Armenian identity of the historical and cultural heritage of Armenia and Artsakh, to distort historical realities with the malicious intent to appropriate them in the future. All this is happening in conditions when the international community has not yet given a proper assessment of the genocidal actions of Azerbaijan, the violation of the fundamental rights of all Armenians forcibly displaced from Artsakh, the illegal and humiliating actions against Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku prisons, the appropriation of the spiritual and cultural heritage of Artsakh and the complete destruction of Armenian traces. We regret that such an anti-scientific event was allowed to be organized in the premises of a Catholic higher educational institution. In this regard, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin will take the necessary steps within the framework of inter-church communication," the statement of the Department of Inter- Church Relations says.
