UEFA fines Georgian Football Federation 40,000 euro - National team to play one match behind closed doors

ArmInfo.  According to UEFA's decision, the Georgian national team will play one UEFA-sanctioned match behind closed doors. The information was released by the Georgian Football Federation.

Specifically, the ban will apply to the first home match of the new  2026/2027 UEFA Nations League season. The punishment does not apply  to World Cup qualifiers or FIFA international friendly matches.

In addition, the Georgian Football Federation has been fined ?40,000.

"At the UEFA Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body meeting held on  April 9 in Nyon, incidents that occurred during and after the March  23 match between Georgia and Armenia were reviewed.

As a result, UEFA decided to penalize the Georgian Football  Federation with a 40,000 euro fine and one match behind closed doors for  the national team, due to pitch invasions by fans, the use of laser  pointers and pyrotechnics, and the blocking of exits.

The sanction applies only to competitions under UEFA's disciplinary  jurisdiction, and therefore does not extend to friendly matches or  the World Cup qualifiers scheduled for autumn 2025.

UEFA's decision also includes a two-year probation period. If similar  violations occur within this period, Georgia's national team will  again have to play a home match without spectators," the statement  reads.
