ArmInfo. The regular meeting of the Council for National Minorities was held under the chairmanship of Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan.
As reported by the government press service, issues related to the training of specialists in the languages of national minorities in Armenia and the inclusion of children from national minorities in the state program of annually organized summer camps were presented at the meeting.
The agenda items were discussed during the meeting, and the council members presented their comments and suggestions.
Arayik Harutyunyan instructed the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports to develop a program for training language specialists and present it at the next meeting. The Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister also gave instructions on resolving the above-mentioned issues.
Representatives of about twenty nationalities live in Armenia, including Russians, Yazidis, Greeks, Assyrians, Ukrainians, Poles, Germans, Jews, Kurds, Georgians. According to various sources, representatives of national minorities make up from 2 to 4% of the total population of the country.
