ArmInfo. About 50 representatives of Armenian civil society were targeted in a phishing attack on the Signal app, with the attackers posing as the EU Ambassador to Armenia, Vassilis Maragos. Information security expert and co-founder of CyberHUB-AM Artur Papyan, shared this information on his Facebook page. The malicious message, sent on behalf of the EU Ambassador, invited NGOs to participate in a video conference, as seen in Papyan’s screenshot. “ If you have clicked on the registration link and logged in to your Microsoft account, be sure to change your password and check for any active sessions in your user account," the expert warned. Papyan also urged anyone who has doubts to seek help from CyberHUB. Note that phishing attacks pose a significant threat, with fraudsters pretending to be a reliable source. The main goal of phishing is to deceive users into disclosing personal data, such as passwords and bank card numbers. A successful phishing attack can have serious consequences: theft of money, bank card fraud, and loss of access to personal photos and files. In addition, cybercriminals may use stolen data to impersonate the victim, posing additional risks to others.
