This was announced by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Araksiya Svadjyan during a meeting with representatives of specialized organizations with whom the development plan for general education, preschool and secondary vocational education for 2026-2028 was discussed.
Noting that according to data for 2024, about 75% of this age category are already involved in preschool education institutions, she noted that in order to increase coverage, social groups have been identified whose preschool education costs will be reimbursed from the state budget.
According to Svadjyan, a program for reimbursing transportation costs for employees of preschool educational institutions will also be introduced in the near future.
Speaking about reforms in the general education system, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports said that in 2026, STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) laboratories will appear in all schools in Armenia. She added that work is also underway to improve the infrastructure in the field of vocational education.
During the meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs on March 18, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan noted that the availability of preschool education is one of the goals enshrined in the government's program. Referring to the results of various studies, the head of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports noted that if a child is involved in preschool education even for 1 year, his results in school are higher than those of children who have not attended these institutions.
