ArmInfo. The employees of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia have uncovered a case of import of the narcotic drug weighing about 12 kg into the Republic of Armenia.
According to the SRC, during the customs inspection of a truck with a trailer driven by citizen N.A., who arrived from the Islamic Republic of Iran, suspicious masses were found at the Agarak checkpoint using X- ray equipment. In particular, 15 packages with a white crystalline mass resembling the drug .
As part of the criminal case initiated by the Syunik Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran N.A. was arrested. The investigation established that the citizen was supposed to hand over the aforementioned narcotic drug to a certain E.N. on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
As part of the operational search activities, the methamphetamine group narcotic substances were replaced with other similar masses and treated with a special chemical substance, and the identity of the person who arrived from Iran was established. After arriving in the Republic of Armenia, citizen E.N. was placed under surveillance.
The latter arrived at the international airport and went to meet with N.A. In one of the hotels located in Yerevan, under the supervision of operational officers, packages with a counterfeit mass of the narcotic substance were handed over to citizen E.N. The latter was detained by the State Revenue Committee and the National Security Service on the basis of immediate reasonable suspicion of smuggling and purchasing drugs for the purpose of sale and transferred to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
As part of the criminal case, petitions were filed with the court to select a preventive measure in the form of detention of Iranian citizens N.A. and E.N., which were satisfied.
