ArmInfo. Armenia, together with its partners, is working to build a more just, peaceful and prosperous world. This was stated by Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
According to him, today the members of the Union are united in solving urgent problems that various states are facing. "All over the world, we are facing complex problems that threaten our future if we remain indifferent. We have gathered here to take part in important discussions about the future we want to build, based on justice, equality and, above all, peace. Armenia believes that true development is more than economic growth. We are discussing the creation of systems that will ensure social protection, equal opportunities and dignity of citizens," the Vice-Speaker said.
He added that Armenia is making every effort to meet the needs of vulnerable groups, striving to ensure that health, education and security are not a privilege for the few, but a right for all.
"We also pay attention to social inclusion, ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity or background, has access to opportunities. Armenia has increased social protection spending by 14.9% this year compared to 2024. It is through such actions that we strengthen democracy and build a stronger society. We know that peace is a long and sometimes difficult process, and every effort to resolve it is worth it. In this context, we have recently taken a significant step.
Armenia confirms that the draft peace treaty with Azerbaijan has been approved by the parties and the negotiations have been successfully concluded. The peace document is ready for signing, and Yerevan is ready to take this historic step. We invite Azerbaijan to join us in this important step towards a peaceful and prosperous future for our two peoples," the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia noted.
